Communication Arts Awards of excellence 2024 FINALIST

I created these works during my MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. For a while I felt a bit blocked with my way of working and the use of colour. Tutors recommended me to be bold and experiment with colour and different techniques, so I worked in big formats with oil pastels creating monoprint marks, then gouache, crayons, ink and charcoal. The white characters in the third image were added digitally.

I can imagine this work for poetic publications or adventures in fantasy worlds.
